This kit has a millibar pressure scale included as used in Europe. (See Altimeter with Inches scale for USA). The Altimeter kit is easy to build. The kit contains 39 different parts. It has 3 indicators: a 100-feet pointer, a 1000-feet pointer and a 10,000-feet indicator disc. The Altimeter is driven by a modified servomotor (not included in the kit) which is able to run continuously. It delivers direct feedback about the position of each pointer to the central control unit.

Additionally, you can regulate the air pressure scale by means of a dial on the lower left hand side of the instrument. The Altimeter is equipped with lighting regulated by the central control unit.

The construction manual explains step-by-step how to construct this gauge. You do not need to have high technical skills, since every part is precisely molded and fits perfectly.

The Auto Zero Version has an improved reset function. While the previous version had 4 Piher position sensors - to sense the position of the pointers - the Auto Zero Version has 3 Piher sensors and additionally a Photo Interruptor to set the Altimeter to an exact zero position at start up. (The previous version needed sometimes manual adjustment for a difference of 1000 feet at start up time).

Difficulty level
This product can be constructed without technical expertise. Knowledge of electronics soldering is required. Care and accuracy are of utmost importance.

What else do you need?
A standard HS-300 or HS-322 servo motor and a modified servomotor, type HS-300, HS-322 or equivalent, is required to make the instrument fully functional. These products can be ordered separately from the SimKits website or bought from any retailer of model kits. Of you would like to modify a servo motor yourself, please look at the instructions at the SimKits website at the Support section. Additionally you will need some simple tools, such as a small star-shaped screwdriver, a hobby knife, some pliers, a 1/16" (4 mm) drill, a soldering iron (suitable for fine electronics), tin solder, insulating adhesive tape, superglue and glue suitable for plastic model kits.
